One of the great parts of planning your big day is the samples. Menu samples, confectionery samples and especially the wedding cake samples! There are so many options to choose from including fruit, sponge and varying flavours so it’s best to start looking for your wedding cake supplier early on. The great thing about your cake is the layers. You can literally choose a favourite flavour for the bride, groom and even each parent if you wish!
A wedding cake is so much more than just the cake. They are a real focal point on your big day, the place that everyone crowds round to watch the married couple complete their first task together – so you need to be sure you select the perfect design! Of course, the cake doesn’t have to be traditional, you can opt for something totally different to suit your wedding theme.
WEDDING CAKE FACTS
Traditionally you would always keep the top-tier of your wedding cake as it is supposed to serve as your firstborn child’s Christening cake. However, many couples adopt for the new tradition of saving it to celebrate their one year anniversary. If you do wish to stick to some traditions make sure you securely wrap the cake in clingfilm and keep it in an airtight container. It is always best to freeze for freshness, but check with your baker first!
It is usually advised that you contact your cake suppliers 7-9 months before your big day. Check out our social media for more information and inspiration.
