SOPHIE & ROB’S MAGICAL AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEDDING

written by our Lincolnshire Weddings real bride Sophie Tomlinson

THE VENUE

After attending our friend’s wedding at San Pietro, Scunthorpe in August 2018 we were really impressed by their attentive & professional service, the clean & classic décor of the venue and most of all the quality of the food that was provided on the day. We made an enquiry and decided to book our special day with them too and we did not regret it at all!

The team were so helpful both on the run-up and on the day. The food was just sensational. We received so many lovely comments from our friends and family about the venue and how great our wedding was.

We couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was August Bank Holiday weekend, the sun was shining all day and the temperature was 28 degrees. The courtyard at San Pietro was filled with love and cheer as all our friends and family gathered after the ceremony to sip on Pimms. It was exactly as I could have imagined it and more.

THE VIBE

So the vibe was meant to be ‘natural & relaxed’. However, as I started planning I soon came to realise I was neither of them. So to say that this style reflected my personality would be a bit of an understatement.

However, I rolled with it and decided on a muted colour pallet of soft greens, dusty rose, with a hint of metallic gold and some sparkly embellishments.

THE DRESS

I feel my dress reflected this ‘relaxed vibe’. I decided on an understated sequin, backless bridal dress from ASOS which was such a steal and so comfortable.

I tried numerous dresses on in bridal shops but none of them felt like ‘me’.

As soon as my ASOS order arrived I ran upstairs to try it on and said to my friend, ‘I am saying YES to an ASOS dress!’

THE FLOWERS

I have a real love for flowers and anything botanical, so I was keen to have this reflected in our day! Wow & Vow provided our beautiful bouquets, buttonholes and table flowers. I was totally blown away when I saw the flowers on the morning of our wedding, they were exactly as I could have wished for. A large relaxed bouquet of beautiful wild blooms in greens and creams for myself and my maids. The table flowers were in the same style and came presented in a classic gold footed bowl and just looked so elegant and effortless.

THE STATIONERY

We decided on a botanical design for our wedding day stationery from Bianco Blanc Paperie which incorporated our soft colour pallet. I chose a bold print that wasn’t too feminine, as I was conscious that I didn’t want the day to feel all about me but also my lovely husband too.

THE CAKE

The day flowed perfectly and by the time we knew it, we were cutting the cake that Rob’s mum lovingly made for us. It was so delicious, she had worked so hard on it for us and it was nice to have that personal touch to our day.

One of my favourite photos captured of the day is the slicing of the cake. By this point we were so relaxed and ready to party the night away, we didn’t want the day to end. Robs facial expression says it all, we were just so so happy.

Being a wedding coordinator myself I have seen and worked on many weddings over the years and it really is true what they say

‘It was the best day of our lives’

We continued to party late into the night with a fantastic DJ from Club Class Entertainment and incredible Saxophonist called Sarah Sax Player who played our favourite tunes, the dancefloor was packed all night with all our loved ones – even my sister who had been by my side all day as my maid of honour and was six months pregnant was up on the dance floor all night, there was a real buzz of love in the air!

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

I will save the best till last…

Our photographer Holly Bryan Photography really was wonderful to work with.

We decided to choose Holly as our photographer as we loved the look of her work. Relaxed, fun, loving and she had that lovely dewy muted tone to her images that really appealed to me.

Not only did she capture our day perfectly, but she also went above and beyond just being a photographer on the day, she was like my personal assistant,

She chilled me out on the morning of my wedding when my nerves were setting in. She organised the chaos when it came to group photos. She was incredible with the little ones and she even looked after Rob’s dad when the heat got a little overwhelming at one point!

She was magic, and at the end of it all, she provided us with the most perfect gallery of images of the most perfect day.
